Mr. Christian Jung, Sr., died at his home in this city, at 5:20
o'clock p.m., on Monday, December 28, 1914, after a lingering illness, aged 74 years and 25 days.

Deceased was born in Saarburg, Lothringen, Germany, on the 3 day of
December, 1840, and came to this country with his parents in 1853, and they immediately located at Belleville, and he has been a resident of this county ever since. On the first day of June, 1861, he was married to Mrs. Emma Reinhardt, who survives him. They resided on farms near Mascoutah until three years ago when they moved to this city.

He was the father of 12 children, of whom two sons and one daughter
preceded their father to the grave and the following survive him: Christ
A., Peter C. and Julius, residing in Mascoutah; Otto Jung, at Los Angeles, California; Arthur Jung, at Murphysboro, Ill.; Louis Jung, at Belleville; Mary, wife of Charles Ohl, and Theresa, wife of Ben F. Laux, of this city; and Hilda, wife of Eugene Kaelin, of Gillespie, Ill. Besides his wife and children, the deceased is survived by one step-son, Fred Reinhardt, of this city, one brother, Anton Jung of Murphysboro, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Zinck, of Mascoutah, and Magdalena, wife of Felix Zinck, of New Baden; also 27 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon. Services will be held at the house by Rev. Wm. H. Schlinkmann, pastor of the Ev. Prot. Church, at 1 o'clock, and interment will be made in the Mascoutah City
cemetery.

Mrs. Emma Jung, nee Dumont, died at her home in this city at 11:45
o'clock a.m., on Friday, January 22, 1915, after a lingering illness, aged
70 years, 4 months and 4 days.

Deceased was born in Ensishelm, Muehlhausen, Germany, on September
18, 1845, and came to America June 20, 1850. She was married to Mr. Fred Reinhardt on April 28, 1859. One son, Fred Reinhardt, was born to this union and he survives. Her first husband died on May 3, 1861. On January 18, 1863, she was united in marriage with Mr. Christ Jung. They resided on farms in Engelmann township, until three years ago when they moved to this city. Mr. Jung died on December 28, 1914. Twelve children were born to this union, of who two sons and one daughter preceded their mother in death and the following survive: Christ A., Peter C. and Julius Jung, of this city,; Otto Jung of Los Angeles, California; Arthur Jung, of Murphysboro, Ill.; Louis Jung, of Belleville; Mary, wife of Charles Ohl, and Theresa, wife of Ben F. Laux, of this city; and Hilda, wife of Eugene Kaelin, of Gillespie, Ill. She also leaves two brothers, Peter and Julius C. Dumont, of this city, 30 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the
late residence of the deceased to the Mascoutah City cemetery. Rev. Wm. H. Schlinkmann, pastor of the Ev. Prot. Church conducted the funeral services.

Among the relatives residing at other places, who were here to
attend the funeral, were: Mr. And Mrs. Eugene Kaelin, of Gillespie, Ill,;
Louis Jung and family and Fred Engelage and family, of Belleville; Arthur
and Siegmund Jung, of Murphysboro.
